Fall Essentials Sew-Along 2014

It's that time of year again! I know, I know.  The sun is still shining, the temperatures blazing, who wants to think about cold weather?  For us crafty people who enjoy the change of seasons, now is the perfect time to start planning for fall and winter.

This year marks the 4th time I have hosted the Fall Essentials Sew-Along (FESA), which was the brainchild of Ali, Alessa, and myself.  Since its inception, Ali has taken a private blog route (big sad face) and Alessa has recently become a fully-fledged doctor! Congratulations Dr. Farbenfreude!  I work in a hospital so I know how hectic it can be when you're beginning your medical career.  I know Alessa won't mind if I take the reins on this one - it just wouldn't feel right to welcome fall without FESA.

I am delighted to announce that my co-host this year is the lovely Lisette from That 70's Sew.  You'll know Lisette from her former blog, What Would Nancy Drew Wear?, and I've been an admirer of hers since she first started blogging.

The format and categories will remain the same - rather like that old, comfy sweater you love, and will kick off on September 1, 2014.

Care to join me?

I do need to sew myself a new winter coat anyway, and was planning on starting in September. I don't know if I'll be able to swing anything else, but that's ambitious all by itself!

Ooooh this sounds like fun! I can't wait for autumn. It's my favorite! Being it's my first time participating in the FESA, where do I go to find the format, categories, rules, and stuff? I tried hunting around in your labels but didn't seem to see this? But I did see that totally awesome skirt with the houses on it!!! What a fabulous make!

I love your thinking!

That's a hugely ambitious project and I'm thoroughly impressed!

Lol! I know but I'm such a nerdy planner I can't help it!

Yay! If you find yourself needing a co-host, I'd love to assist. This is the only sew-along I've consistently participated in!

I've had so much fun following what other sewers have been doing. The internet has made the world of Hand created so much wider. Thank you.

Yes. Me! I'll probably be doing some knitting. I've got some WIPs that need finishing off.

I am very tempted! I only took the plunge into sewing my own clothes recently, so might not achieve much, but nothing ventured …

Hi! I've just sort of wandered in on a blog hop, but this sounds like a really good idea. I've started planning my autumn/winter sewing already, since the weather has turned cold already here. It would be nice to see what other people are doing with their wardrobe plans.

I'm totally in! I had wanted to join in last year but never got my ass in gear in time ;) Going to have to try not to make ridiculously ambitious plans and be sensible about it!

I'm going to give it a try. I'm trying to make it a goal to sew a little bit every day and I desperately need to figure out how to sew pants for my weird shape, so will work on that. Thanks for this!

After (finally) doing my wardrobe purge this is the exact thing I need! I'm going to try to make one for each category but we'll see.

Jay! I´d love to join in again this year. I am just putting together my sewing plans for the autumn/winter, so this is perfect timing. :)
